Dosing systems that prevent waste are more environmentally friendly.
One of our customers told us about a law that’s been approved in the Balearic Islands, a popular tourist destination in Spain.
These islands are much-loved by tourists from all over the world, but they have long been plagued by the problem of waste, and waste disposal as a consequence.
On 19 February 2019 the Consell de Mallorca (Majorca's local government) passed a resolution to introduce Law 8/2019 on waste and contaminated land in the Balearic Islands, with the aim of having a significant impact on the problem in terms of prevention by banning, amongst other things, a wide range of disposable products.
Sometimes cultural change is encouraged and facilitated by a change in legislation. There are new restrictions in the Balearic Islands from 1 January 2021, which will change what had become a consolidated custom on the islands, for locals and visitors alike.
Disposable throwaway plastic bags, cups, cutlery and plates, straws, lollipop sticks and coffee capsules are now a thing of the past. Everything must be biodegradable and eco-friendly.
As far as our sector, packaging is concerned, banning the use and distribution of single-dose foods (like sugar, sweetener sachets, soluble coffee pods, etc.) is certainly a step in the right direction if we want to live in a more sustainable way and protect the planet we live on.
Manufacturers must take steps to make sure all the materials used in packaging can be recycled or used for compost: this is an advantage not only in terms of the company’s image with more attentive consumers, it’s also a step towards greater awareness with an eye to the future.
Tacom has been constantly working for years to give our customers dosing solutions that not only offer the best performance but are also innovative and environmentally friendly.
One of these solutions we’re particularly proud of is Pour & Dose, an exceptional dosing system solution for all manufacturers of single-dose product lines.
The reason is simple: this solution lets you pour a fixed amount of product out of the carton without wasting any. The system is inserted in a bespoke box designed specifically for this innovative dosing system.
Adopting this system limits packaging waste, in a win-win solution that means a reduction in material costs, fewer work hours, and lower labour costs.
Pour & Dose is the “win-win” choice, a winner for you and the environmental.
